Activities to do with mum on Mother’s Day (or any day)

Finding the perfect gift for Mother’s Day doesn’t always have to be just about the gift, it should also be about spending some quality time with mum.

Mums will always light up to one thing — seeing you, her family and the grandkids and what better day than on Mother’s Day.

Here are some great ideas on activities and things to do with mum.

Take mum out and about

Yes, she loves cooking and cleaning, but today is to go see some new sights, dance the night away or just get away from it all.

  1. Treat her to her favourite musical or opera.
  2. Get competitive together watching a sporting event.
  3. Enjoy a day trip to a nearby town.
  4. Sing the day and night away at a concert.
  5. Enjoy a film with your mum out to the movies.
  6. Get creative at a craft or food market.
  7. Pose together with a photoshoot around the city.
  8. Visit an outdoor festival, wellies and all.
  9. Take a road trip, and take in a beach, architecture or some nature.

Take mum shopping

If one thing mums love is to do is a shop, but this time it’s not for uniforms, it’s only for her and at your expense.

  1. Go shoe shopping and then walk her to lunch.
  2. Upmarket shopping with designer boutiques only.
  3. Be glamorous at a fashion show.
  4. Hunt for bargains at an antique or jumble store.
  5. Organize a personal shopper for the day and hold the bags.
  6. Smell great together at the perfumery.
  7. Jewellery shopping for her favourite stones.
  8. Window shopping and finish with ice cream.
  9. Redesign her home with new wallpaper, a lamp or a sofa.
  10. Does she need wheels? Ok, at least do some test drives.

Get active with mum

You know she is always on the go, but how about a change from running to the shops and getting active in having fun.

  2. Play her favourite sport, and get ready to be put to the sword.

  4. Run a marathon with her or at least run to the shops for her.

Stay at home with mum

Maybe she’s not up for getting out and about and rather spend some good quality time enjoying your company, in her home comforts, here some ideas to keep you both occupied.

  1. Prepare a movie marathon, classics only.
  2. Gather the troops, your mum, grandma, mother-in-law, aunts over.
  3. Plan a family game night.
  4. Plan a themed dinner party.
  5. Plant a herb or flower garden together.

  7. Organize a variety show with all the family.

  9. Build a blanket fort with the grandkids.

A beautiful setting, a good bottle of wine, luxury food and all not cooked by her, she will be smiling all day and night long.

  7. Arrange a date with you and her best friend so she can show you off.

Spend the day being arty

Mum has always enjoyed the finer side of life and a day taking in the arts and culture, sure to enlighten the mind for you both.
